Terms of Use
Last updated: 04 June 2026
These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your access to and use of Noorelia, a software platform for funeral directors and the families they serve, operated at noorelia.com. By signing up or using the service, you agree to these Terms.
In short: Noorelia is software for funeral homes. We provide the tools; you operate them in compliance with your local laws. Pricing is monthly with no long-term contracts. We respect your data. Be honest and lawful in your use of the platform.
1. Who can use Noorelia
Noorelia is intended for licensed funeral home directors, mortuaries, crematoria operators, and similar death-care professionals operating legally in their jurisdiction. By signing up, you confirm:
- You are at least 18 years old
- You are authorised to enter into a contract on behalf of your business
- You operate your business in compliance with local laws governing funeral services, including any required licensure
- The information you provide on signup is accurate
2. Free Trial
Noorelia offers a 14-day free trial, with no credit card required at signup. During the trial:
- You have full access to all features
- No payment is required
- You may cancel any time without obligation
- If you do not subscribe by the end of the trial, your account moves to a 30-day read-only state, after which all data is deleted (see Section 12 — Data retention on cancellation)
3. Subscription and billing
Plan
Noorelia offers a single plan with all features included — case management, AI communication, family portal, e-signatures, aftercare, analytics, multi-location support, GPL/CPL/OBCPL price list management, and more. Pricing is flat-rate and published at noorelia.com/#pricing. Billing is monthly in advance, starting after the free trial. Payments are processed by Stripe.
Auto-renewal
Subscriptions renew automatically each month at the prevailing monthly price unless cancelled. We will email a receipt for each charge. Where required by applicable law (e.g. California's Automatic Renewal Law), we will give advance notice of any price change at least 30 days before the change takes effect.
Refunds
Subscription fees are non-refundable, except where required by mandatory consumer protection law (e.g. EU 14-day right of withdrawal for consumer accounts opened from the EU). Where a refund is required, we will issue it to the original payment method within 14 days.
Plan changes
Plan changes (e.g. adding locations, if multi-location pricing tiers are introduced) take effect immediately. We will issue a prorated invoice for the difference.
Cancellation
You may cancel your subscription at any time from the Settings page. Upon cancellation:
- Your subscription remains active until the end of the current billing period
- After that, your account moves to read-only mode
- Data is retained for 30 days, after which it is permanently deleted
- You may reactivate within the 30-day window with all data preserved
No refunds are issued for partial billing periods, but we will not bill again after cancellation.
Taxes
Prices are exclusive of any sales tax, VAT, GST, or similar transaction taxes, which we will add to your invoice where required by applicable law.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use Noorelia for any illegal purpose or in violation of any applicable law
- Upload content that infringes intellectual property rights or contains malware
- Attempt to access other accounts or bypass security measures
- Use the service to send spam, harass, or distress family members
- Resell or sublicense access to the platform without our written agreement
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or scrape the service in bulk
- Misrepresent AI-generated content as written by a human professional in a way that would mislead a family member and cause harm
- Use Noorelia to send unsolicited bulk communications (we provide aftercare messages tied to consented cases, not generic marketing)
- Probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of any system or network without written permission from us (legitimate coordinated disclosure is welcome via [email protected])
We may suspend or terminate accounts that materially breach this section, with notice where practicable.
5. Your responsibilities as a funeral home
You are responsible for:
- Accuracy of case data — names, dates, contacts, and documents you enter must be accurate
- Lawful collection of family contact information — you must have a lawful basis (typically the funeral arrangement contract) to enter family contact details into the platform
- Compliance with local funeral laws — Noorelia does not replace legally required paperwork (cremation permits, death certificates filed with authorities, etc.). You remain responsible for filing such documents with the appropriate authority on time.
- FTC Funeral Rule compliance (US funeral homes) — the General Price List, Casket Price List, Outer Burial Container Price List, and Statement of Funeral Goods and Services Selected features in Noorelia are tools; ensuring the content, disclosures, and itemisation comply with 16 CFR Part 453 is your responsibility. Penalties for non-compliance can reach $53,088 per violation as of 2025.
- Quality of FAQ and aftercare content — answers you publish in the family portal FAQ section and aftercare templates you approve are your professional advice; we don't review or verify them
- E-signature suitability — while Noorelia's e-signatures are legally binding under E-SIGN (US), eIDAS (EU), UETA, and equivalent regimes, you remain responsible for determining whether a particular document type may be e-signed in your jurisdiction. Some jurisdictions require wet signatures for specific funeral documents (e.g. UK Cremation Form 1 medical certificate, certain notarised affidavits, certain wills).
- Customer-facing communication — although AI generates initial drafts of milestone updates and aftercare messages, you remain responsible for the final content sent to families. You can edit any AI draft before sending.
- Staff access management — you are responsible for promptly revoking access of staff who leave your organisation
- Family contact preferences — when families request to stop receiving certain communications, you must honour that promptly using the controls in the dashboard
6. Family portal terms
When a funeral home shares a portal link with a family, those family members may use the portal to:
- View case milestones and documents
- Sign documents electronically
- Share photos and memories
- Send messages to the funeral director
- Use the AI chat assistant for general questions
Family portal use is provided free to family members. Family members are not required to create an account. By using the family portal, family members agree to the portions of these Terms applicable to them (acceptable use, AI disclaimer, e-signature audit trail).
7. AI-generated content disclaimer
Noorelia uses AI (Anthropic's Claude) to generate certain content — milestone updates, aftercare messages, suggested obituary drafts, and chat responses. While we choose AI providers carefully and craft prompts thoughtfully, AI may occasionally produce inaccurate, inappropriate, or culturally insensitive content.
Funeral home directors should review AI-generated content before sending it to families when possible. Noorelia is not liable for errors in AI-generated content. The AI chat in the family portal includes a fallback knowledge base for common questions, but family members should always direct case-specific questions to the funeral home.
Anthropic does not train its models on data submitted via the API. We do not opt into any optional data-retention feature with the AI provider.
8. Intellectual property
The Noorelia platform, including its software, design, content, and trademarks, is owned by Noorelia. You receive a non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the platform during your subscription, solely for your internal funeral home operations.
You retain ownership of the data you enter into Noorelia, including case information, documents, branding assets, and price lists. By uploading content, you grant us a limited licence to store, process, and display that content as necessary to provide the service.
If you provide feedback or suggestions about the service, we may use them to improve Noorelia without obligation to you.
9. Service availability
We aim for 99% monthly uptime but do not guarantee uninterrupted service. Maintenance, third-party outages (Supabase, Cloudflare, Netlify, Resend, Anthropic, Stripe, DocuSign), or other factors may cause temporary unavailability. We do not currently offer SLA credits. We will provide reasonable advance notice of planned maintenance by email or in-app notice. You can check current platform status, incident history, and response times at our public status page.
10. Data ownership and export
You own the data you put into Noorelia. You can export your data at any time from the Settings panel in CSV format. We do not assert any ownership over your case data, family-shared content, or branding assets.
11. Security
We use commercially reasonable measures to secure the platform — HTTPS in transit, encryption at rest, Row Level Security in the database, rate limiting on sensitive endpoints, webhook signature verification, audit logging of e-signatures. Details are in our Privacy Policy, Section 11.
If you suspect a security incident affecting your account, contact [email protected] immediately.
12. Data retention on cancellation
When you cancel your subscription or your trial ends without conversion:
- Your account moves to read-only mode at the end of the current paid period
- You have 30 days to reactivate or export your data
- After 30 days, your data is permanently deleted from active systems
- Backups containing your data are deleted within a further 30 days
- E-signature audit records are retained for 7 years to satisfy legal e-signature requirements (E-SIGN, eIDAS)
- Billing records are retained for the period required by tax law (typically 6–7 years)
13. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law:
- Noorelia is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement
- Our aggregate liability for any claim arising from the service is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid in subscription fees in the 12 months preceding the claim, or (b) US$500
- We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including lost profits, lost data, business interruption, or reputational harm
- We are not liable for the accuracy of family-shared content (memories, messages, signatures) or AI-generated content
- We are not liable for missed regulatory deadlines (death certificate filing, cremation permits, etc.) — that responsibility remains with you
Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot legally be excluded (e.g. fraud, gross negligence, death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or statutory consumer rights that cannot be waived).
14. Indemnification
As a funeral home using Noorelia, you agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from third-party claims arising from:
- Your use of the service in violation of these Terms
- Inaccurate information you provide
- Your violation of laws governing your funeral business, including FTC Funeral Rule, state licensing law, or equivalent
- Disputes between you and the families you serve
- Content you upload that infringes a third party's rights
15. Suspension and termination
We may suspend or terminate your account if you:
- Materially breach these Terms (with notice and a reasonable cure period where practicable)
- Engage in fraudulent or abusive conduct
- Have not paid subscription fees after multiple invoices and grace periods
- Use the platform in a way that endangers other users or the platform's integrity
If we terminate for cause, you may export your data within 14 days. If we terminate without cause (e.g. service shutdown), we will give 60 days' notice and full data export options.
You may close your account at any time from the Settings panel.
16. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be notified by email at least 30 days in advance. Continued use after that period indicates acceptance. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the current version.
17. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, excluding conflict-of-laws rules. Subject to the dispute resolution provision below, the courts of London, United Kingdom have non-exclusive jurisdiction.
Before commencing any legal action, you agree to first contact us at [email protected] and attempt to resolve the dispute in good faith for 30 days.
Nothing in this section prevents you from bringing a claim in the courts of your country of residence where mandatory consumer protection law gives you that right.
18. DPA and subprocessors
For funeral home customers processing personal data, a Data Processing Agreement (DPA) is available on request at [email protected]. Our current subprocessor list is in our Privacy Policy, Section 6.
19. Miscellaneous
- Entire agreement: These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and any DPA, form the entire agreement between us regarding your use of Noorelia
- Severability: if any provision is held unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in effect
- No waiver: our failure to enforce any provision is not a waiver of our right to do so later
- Assignment: you may not assign these Terms without our consent; we may assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of all or substantially all of our assets, with notice to you
- Force majeure: neither party is liable for delays caused by events outside its reasonable control (natural disaster, war, internet outage, government action) for the duration of the event
- Notices: we will give notice to the account email on file; you should keep it current
